Privacy policy
The times, breaks, wage rates and totals you type into any calculator on this site never leave your browser. There is no backend to send them to, no account to create and no access log on the server. The only third-party code here is Google AdSense and Google's own consent management, which may set cookies for advertising. You can change that choice at any time with the Cookie settings button in the footer.
This policy explains what happens to data when you use hourscalculatoronline.com. It is written to be specific rather than exhaustive, because a policy listing data we do not collect would tell you nothing useful. Where a third party is involved we name it and link to its own policy.
The site is operated by beFortunate, a company based in the Netherlands that builds focused, practical online tools. For anything in this policy, write to [email protected].
What you type into the calculators
Your calculator inputs — start and end times, break lengths, daily and weekly thresholds, hourly rates, overtime multipliers, and every total produced from them — are processed entirely on your own device and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
This is a property of how the site is built, not a promise we are asking you to take on trust. The whole site is static HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript served by nginx. There is no backend, no database, no login system, no user accounts, no API and no server-side processing of any kind. The calculation code runs in your browser; there is no form submission, no analytics event carrying your figures, and no logging of them. There is, quite literally, nowhere for your hours to be sent.
A direct consequence: we cannot show you your calculation history, recover a week you cleared, or tell you what you entered last Tuesday. We never had it. Each formula is documented on the how it works page.
Local storage on your device
The site uses local storage — not cookies — for exactly two purposes. Local storage keeps data in your browser on your own device; it is never sent to a server with your requests, which is one reason it is used here instead of cookies.
| Key | Purpose |
|---|---|
hco.format | Whether you chose 12-hour or 24-hour clock display, so the preference survives a reload and applies across pages. |
hco.timecard.timecard | The contents of the grid on the time card calculator, so an accidental reload does not cost you the week you just typed. |
hco.timecard.timesheet | The same for the timesheet calculator, kept separately so the two tools do not overwrite each other. |
That is the complete list. This data stays on your device, is readable only by this site, and is not used for tracking, profiling or advertising. You can remove it at any time by clearing site data for this domain, or on the weekly tools by using the Clear week button. Every write is wrapped in error handling, so private browsing or a blocked-storage setting degrades the feature quietly instead of breaking the calculator.
Shareable result links
Most calculators offer a Share link button. It encodes your current inputs into the page address as query-string parameters, so that opening the link reproduces the same calculation. The address is assembled in your browser and placed on your clipboard or in the address bar.
Be aware of what you are sharing: if the inputs included an hourly rate, that rate is visible to anyone who receives the link. The calculators work identically without the feature.
Advertising: Google AdSense
This site is free and has no paywall or premium tier. It is funded by advertising through Google AdSense, publisher ID ca-pub-0745848274612756.
Google AdSense, together with Google's own consent management (Funding Choices, implementing Consent Mode v2), is the only third-party code loaded on this site. It is served from pagead2.googlesyndication.com. Google and its advertising partners may set cookies and read device identifiers in order to serve, cap, measure and report on advertising, and to detect fraud and abuse. That processing is carried out by Google as an independent controller, under its own terms:
- Google Privacy Policy
- How Google uses cookies in advertising
- How Google uses information from sites that use its services
- Google My Ad Center, where you can control the ads you see
We do not receive this data. We see an aggregate earnings report in the AdSense dashboard — impressions, clicks and revenue by country and page — and nothing that identifies an individual visitor. We cannot look you up, and we cannot delete an advertising identifier on your behalf, which is why an access or erasure request about ad data has to be directed to Google.
Before you give consent, non-personalised ads are served: these are selected on general context such as the page's subject rather than a profile of your interests. Non-personalised ads still require limited technical data, including frequency capping and fraud prevention.
No Google Analytics is installed at launch. We do not use Facebook pixels, heatmap tools, session recording, A/B testing services, chat widgets, social media embeds, external fonts or any other third-party script. If an analytics tool is added later, it will sit behind the same consent mechanism and this policy will be updated before it goes live.
Consent and how to change it
If you are in the EU or EEA, Google's consent dialog appears before personalised advertising cookies are set, and records your choice. To revisit that choice at any time, use the Cookie settings button in the footer of any page; it reopens the same dialog, where you can grant or withdraw consent per purpose. Withdrawing consent does not remove ads — it returns them to non-personalised. The cookie policy goes through the categories in more detail.
Server logs and hosting
The site is served from a container located in the Netherlands. The nginx access log is switched off: we do not keep a record of the pages you visited, your IP address or your user agent. There is no server-side request history of your visit on our infrastructure.
Technically, your IP address is necessarily visible to the network layer while a page is being delivered — that is how the internet routes a response back to you — and our hosting provider may process it transiently for connectivity and abuse prevention. It is not written to a log we keep or analyse. Requests for advertising resources go directly from your browser to Google's servers.
Responses include a strict Content-Security-Policy with a per-request nonce, along with X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy and Permissions-Policy headers. These restrict which code may run and how much information your browser passes on, which limits the scope for a third party to be introduced without our knowledge.
Email you send us
If you write to [email protected], we receive your message, your address and whatever you put in it. We use that solely to answer you, and keep correspondence only as long as it is useful — for example, while a reported bug is open. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list: we do not run a newsletter at all. Your address is not sold, shared or used for marketing. Our contact page explains what to include in a bug report, and please do not send sensitive personal information, payslips or employee data; we do not need it to fix arithmetic.
Children
This is a general-purpose arithmetic tool with no sign-up and no profile, and it is not directed at children. We collect no personal data from any visitor, children included.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or EEA, the GDPR gives you rights over personal data about you: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the Netherlands that authority is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. Visitors elsewhere may have comparable rights under local law.
An honest note on how to exercise them here. Because the site itself holds no personal data about you — no account, no profile, no analytics record, no access log — there is usually nothing for us to retrieve, correct or delete. The data that does exist in connection with your visit is the advertising data held by Google, so requests about it must go to Google, using the links above. Anything in your browser's local storage is already under your control. If you are unsure which category your question falls into, write to us and we will tell you honestly where to send it.
Legal basis and transfers
Where processing requires a legal basis, advertising cookies and personalised advertising rely on your consent, obtained through the consent dialog. The site's own local storage is strictly necessary to provide the feature you asked for — remembering your clock format and not losing your timesheet — and holds no personal data.
We do not transfer personal data outside the EEA, because we do not collect any. Google operates globally and may process advertising data elsewhere under its own safeguards.
Changes to this policy
If what the site does changes, this page changes first. Any new third-party script, any analytics tool, or any new use of storage will be described here before it is deployed. This policy was last reviewed 1 November 2026, and material changes will be reflected in that date rather than made silently.
Governing law is that of the Netherlands. The terms of use cover the conditions for using the calculators, and the disclaimer explains the limits of the results they produce.
